Waste sorting and recycling
Our units carefully sort all waste, and have efficient networks in place for the purpose of recycling. Our units focus on waste sorting as part of their daily routines.
For example, cardboard, glass, biowaste and paper are sorted, and fryer oils are recovered. The recycling of materials is carried out in co-operation with certified national partners.
Ongoing development work carried out jointly with our suppliers to develop, for example, new packaging methods, yields results in the form of innovations on a nearly daily basis.
Hazardous waste, such as used batteries, can be turned in, for example, to the hotel reception desk, which will deliver them to the appropriate collection stations.
Restel’s Golden Rax Pizzabuffet chain excels, not only recycling, but also in energy-efficiency. The Finnish ‘Kuluttaja’ magazine carried out a survey to examine corporate responsibility among fast food chains, and Rax rated highly in the survey. The survey investigated the participating companies’ responsibility in terms of environmental issues and in relation to their staff members, supply chain and consumers. The survey also assessed the transparency of the companies’ environmental information activities.
