Purchasing
Purchasing
Environmental values are a major purchasing criterion for all our acquisitions from utensils to foodstuffs. Consequently, we require all of our suppliers to have a documented environmental policy as an integral part of their daily operations. Environmental certification serves as proof that they share our dedication to the same values.
Restel has a centralized purchasing and supply system, and has agreed with suppliers to implement combined transportation to reduce the number of deliveries.
Disposable products
The use of disposable or individually wrapped products has been minimized in all our operations. In hotel bathrooms, liquid soap dispensers have replaced individually wrapped soaps.
The breakfast at our hotels is planned with the aim of utilizing environmentally friendly packaging and products.
Single-use and individually wrapped items are only used when necessary to respond to the expectations of specific customers.
Our restaurants favour the use of recyclable or biodegradable materials as preferred product packaging materials.
Observing the environment in construction
In terms of design, land-use and construction, the objective is to promote an optimal living environment while supporting sustainable development. In co-operation with architects, constructors and suppliers, we search for the most environmentally friendly solutions. We endeavour to select materials that meet the customers’ requirements regarding comfort, safety and preference.
When repairing or rebuilding our facilities, we attempt to minimize the environmental load and to use non-toxic materials.
Our approach to construction
All materials and products used in construction are documented.
All materials must be energy-efficient and sustainable, and such aspects as production, transportation, usable life and recycling are considered in their selection. Energy-saving bulbs are primarily used for lighting.
One criterion in the selection of materials and methods is that they must be easy to disassemble in the future.
No materials are used that may emit substances that are harmful to or have an impact on the environment, or that cause allergies.
All hotels and construction sites must have a proper waste sorting system in place.
Heating and ventilation systems must be sturdy in construction and easy to maintain. The ventilation system must be equipped with a heat recovery system.
We prefer materials that have been granted an environmental label because they have already been verified by a competent organization as being environmentally friendly.
